Mice
Mice are the most reported kitchen pest in domestic properties. They can squeeze through gaps as small as 6mm and are drawn to food crumbs, pet food, and cereal boxes. Mice contaminate surfaces with urine and droppings as they move, posing a real food safety risk.
Signs to look for
- Small, dark droppings (3-8mm) along skirting boards, behind appliances, or in cupboards
- Gnaw marks on food packaging, wood, or plastic
- Scratching or rustling sounds behind walls or under units, especially at night
- Greasy smear marks along edges where mice travel repeatedly
- Shredded paper, fabric, or insulation used as nesting material
What to do
Remove accessible food sources and store dry goods in sealed containers. Do not rely on shop-bought traps alone for an established infestation. A professional survey will identify entry points and recommend targeted treatment and proofing.
